Our AGT Sunday adventure took us south into the Waikato for a relaxed day of walking, nature, and connection. With two gentle tracks — the famous Putaruru Blue Springs Walk and Cambridge’s peaceful Settlers Track — the day offered a perfect blend of scenery and ease, ideal for unwinding and enjoying time together.
The morning began with a stop in Cambridge before continuing to Whites Road, where the Te Waihou Walkway leads toward the Blue Springs. The track has recently reopened with new boardwalks, and the improvements made the walk smooth, accessible, and beautifully presented.
The trail followed the river through lush greenery, with boardwalks weaving over wetlands and small bridges crossing crystal‑clear streams. As we approached the springs, the water shifted into its famous shades of turquoise and deep blue — impossibly clear, almost glowing, and framed by native bush.
It was a gentle, unhurried walk, full of photo stops, quiet moments, and easy conversation. The cool air rising from the water and the soft movement of the river made the whole experience feel calm and refreshing.
On the way back to Auckland, we paused in Cambridge for a second short walk — the Settlers Track at Lola Silcock Park. This riverside path follows the Waikato River through open parkland and shaded sections, offering peaceful views and a relaxed pace.
It was the perfect contrast to the morning’s spring-fed waterways: wide river views, gentle curves in the track, and plenty of space to wander and chat. The group enjoyed the chance to stretch the legs again before the drive home, soaking in the last of the afternoon light.
This double‑walk day captured the softer side of AGT adventures — easy trails, beautiful scenery, and time to connect with others. From the glowing waters of the Blue Springs to the quiet riverbanks of Cambridge, the day felt refreshing, social, and full of small moments that made it memorable.
For many, it was a reminder that not every adventure needs to be challenging; sometimes the best days are the ones where you simply walk, talk, and enjoy the landscape together.
